To: Members of the New Brunswick Association of Real Estate Appraisers
Dear Valued Members:
Welcome to the 2019-2020 NBAREA year! I want to thank outgoing President Rob Doyle for his hard work and leadership this past year. We were indeed in good hands with Rob at the helm. If you have not done so, please take the time to send Rob a note of thanks for taking care of business this past year. Rob will of course continue on the Board as Chair of Past Presidents Committee.
Also, thanks go out to the 2018-2019 Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and Committee members for their hard work this past year. Your volunteerism is vital and appreciated! Special mention to: Barb McFarlane, Past Chair of Membership and Public Relations, Luc Michaud, Past St. John River Valley Regional Representative, Sheila Fitzpatrick, Past Chair of the Nominations, Elections & Special Awards Committee, and Conrad Babineau, Past Chair of the Compliance Committee. Sheila and Conrad have agreed to serve another term in these roles. Also for 2019-2020: thanks to Andrew Leech for chairing the Complaints Committee, thanks to Edwin O’Donnell for chairing the Discipline Committee, thanks to Kim Polk for chairing the Committee of Examiners and welcome to Andrew Barry for chairing the Membership & Public Relations Committee. Thank you to all!
New to the Board this year are Vice President Lori Sinclair and St. John River Valley Regional Representative Norm DeMerchant. Welcome to you and the entire 2019-2020 Board of Directors.
A big thank you also goes to our outgoing Executive Director and Registrar Jennifer Logan for her hard work and steady hand on our behalf. Jennifer has had our interests as members at heart during her tenure. To show our appreciation, Jennifer was awarded Honorary Membership of the Association at our annual conference in Moncton on April 10-11. Please take the time to express thanks to Jennifer for her hard work on our behalf!
We welcome Joanne Glynn to the position of Executive Director and Registrar of our Association! Joanne brings a wealth of experience with her and we look forward to working with her. Please reach out to make her feel welcome.
Committee Chairs for 2019-2020 will be filling vacancies and these committee members will be approved at our June 26th Board of Directors Meeting. So, if you are called upon to serve, please give serious consideration to being involved in your Association. Thank you for your willingness to serve!
A special mention goes out to our Lieutenant Governor’s Appointees Marjorie Davidson (a member of the Board of Directors) and Maurice Chassé (Discipline Committee). Your willingness to serve the public interest is so important and we as an Association benefit from your experience and wisdom. Thank you!
We have been well represented by Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) Board Representative Adam Dickinson and I am glad he is continuing in this role. Adam is highly respected among the AIC Board and staff and we are fortunate to have him representing New Brunswick AIC members. Thank you Adam!
Lastly, I would like to honor Cliff Lawrence, one of our members who recently passed. Cliff was indeed a respected member, colleague, mentor and friend. He was also a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. Those who knew Cliff are blessed to have been called his friend and he will be missed. At our Annual Conference earlier this month Cliff was awarded posthumously the distinguished Lee Mersereau Award for outstanding contribution to the appraisal profession. Adam Dickinson accepted this on behalf of Cliff’s Family.
Some of the things that have come to the fore for me this past year are striving to be relevant for the times, the power of social media, the need for face-to-face networking through Regional Meetings and Annual Conference, advocacy, membership growth, valuing our membership, and continuing to do the business of the Association, all the while looking at opportunities for efficiencies.
It is indeed an honor to serve you this year. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions: email@example.com (506) 461-8714; firstname.lastname@example.org.
