President’s Message

NEW BRUNSWICK ASSOCIATION OF REAL ESTATE APPRAISERS
ASSOCIATION DES ÉVALUATEURS IMMOBILIERS DU NOUVEAU-BRUNSWICK

Dear colleagues,
As the 2018 calendar year is approaching its end, just wanted to update the membership on the Associations news over the course of the year. First, the NBAREA board would like to thank Luc Michaud, Saint John River Valley rep for his work and dedication to the association. Luc has resigned from his position on the board; however, will remain a member of the Compliance Committee.
Your Board has been working with the strategic plan, establishing dates and setting goals for the Association and its membership. The strategic plan is posted on the NBAREA website (https://nbarea.org) under the members only section.
The association has had two meet & greet sessions in Moncton and Fredericton. The goal is for every region to have a get together.
Membership & Public Relations have been hard at work to get a social media presence for our Association through LinkedIn and Twitter. A promotional pamphlet is in the final stages of production to promote the NBAREA and the benefits of our Association for those requiring the services of our highly qualified members. These pamphlets will be available for members to send out to stakeholders.
Adam Dickinson, our New Brunswick AIC Board representative and newly named AIC Advocacy Committee chair and myself travelled to the AIC board meeting in Toronto in October to seek a rebate for the Complaints, Compliance and Discipline process. NBAREA had asked for AIC to reinstate the rebate; however, the AIC Board declined our request. The AIC board did offer to open discussions on shared resources which should be a benefit moving forward for the Association.
The NBAREA board has been planning and developing our advertisement for a new Executive Director. Jennifer will complete her term May 31, 2019 and will certainly leave big shoes to fill.
I would encourage all members to bring any concerns you have to the Board. In order to experience how the Association works for you, the member, I would encourage every member to participate by volunteering some time to one of our Committees. It is worthwhile and you will be surprised with the level of Board engagement in items that matter to you.
On behalf of myself and the NBAREA Board of Directors, happy holidays and to a prosperous 2019!

Sincerely,

Rob Doyle,
NBAREA President 2018-2019
